As the eldest of three kids Chris was raised in
London/Ontario from the age of 5. He is married to Karen, his high
school love and a former high school teacher, and has 3 daughters,
Jessie, Quinn and Claire as well as son Gray, the youngest member
of the family. After finishing the shooting of Queer
as Folk Chris and his family moved back to Canada.
His parents, Ron Potter, a former pro-football
player, interim coach of Ontario Mustangs and later insurance salesman
and Judith Potter, a talented singer who gave up her career in favor
of her family, but who started a new career as a lawyer at the age
of 50. Chris had an early interest in sports such as hockey, baseball
and football as well as in community threatre.
Successful sportsman in high school, young Chris
planned on a professional career as an athlete, but his father talked
him out of it. Later Chris quit college to start a career as Rock
musician, but discovered his love for theatre and became a professional
actor on stage. Before he started working for TV in 1990 he earned
his living with several jobs, among them working on an oil rig in
the Northern Canada, selling cars and later working as an insurance
sellsman. He left the security of the insurance buisness to take
a chance on an acting career on TV. After several commercials and
his role in Material World he finally made his breakthrough as Peter
Caine in the series Kung Fu: The legend continues.
Besides acting, Chris directed several episodes
of Silk Stalkings. He is also a singer and songwriter. For his fans
he recorded his CD Tourmaline,
which he wrote all the songs himself. He plays guitar, drums and
piano and every so often he is seen with his Band in Clubs in Toronto.
Chris is a devoted family man and turned down several roles so he

Chris is an enthusiastic hockey player, he is
a member of the All Star Hockey Team. The team is represented by
several well-known TV Stars and they usually gather for charity
functions.
At the independent Film Festival in New York in
September 2001 he got an award as best male actor in drama for his
role in the feature film Rocket Red’s Glare, which unfortunately
has not been released yet. To the delight of several of his fans
who were present in the theatre Chris not only accepted the award
in the theatre but also took a seat among them in the middle of
the audience.
With his role in the Vin Diesel movie The
Pacifier Chris finally premiered on the big screen in March
2005. On the opening weekend the movie was No1 worldwide in nearly
every country.
In Oktober 2005 Chris was nominated for his outstanding
acting as supporting character in the mini-series Sex
Traffic for the Gemini Award.
