Heartland - Season 1

1.04 Taking Chances

Impressed by Amy's success with Promise, its owner sends her nephew Ben to Heartland. While clearing their mother's room, Amy and Lou find a letter which their father Tim had sent to Marion seven years ago, asking her forgiveness and begging for a new start. Since

Marion had told her daughters a completely different thing, the two sisters now begin to change their opinion about Tim.

Ben annoys everyone with his boastful ways, especially Ty, who begins to feel doubts about his position at Heartland. Lou meets her father and learns what really happened during the open house.

When Amy and Mallory catch Ben's run-away horse, it shies near the river, and Amy falls into the water, losing consciousness. Tim happens to watch this incident and tries to save Amy; Jack has mixed feelings about that. Lou and Jack take Amy to the hospital.

Ty is offered a job at the ranch Briar Ridge which belongs to arrogant Ashley's mother. When Amy learns about Ty considering the offer, she takes him to task.

1.05 The Best Laid Plans

The film shooting causes utter confusion at Heartland, so Amy swallows her pride and asks Ty to come back to Heartland. Ty in turn has already lost his new job because the owner of Briar Ridge has found out that Ty is on probation.

1.06 One Trick Pony

Lou's boyfriend Carl from New York pays her a visit. But his big-city airs and graces and his plans to take Lou with him to Chicago, where he has got a new job, do not make him very popular with the Heartland staff. Since Lou has herself been offered a job in Chicago, the chances of her leaving the ranch seem real enough. When Carl proposes to her Lou is undecided at first, but then she comes to know that Carl had arranged for her new job so that he can marry her and impress his new bosses. Nobody is happier about Lou declining Carl's offer than the veterinarian Scott, who has a crush on Lou.
