Heartland
The Canadian show Heartland is a multi-generational family series set in the fictive town Hudson in the foothills of Alberta, but actually is filmed in High River, Alberta, Canada. The saga follows the turbulent life of the Fleming family who run the nearly insolvent horse ranch "Heartland", that has been in the family for years.
The series centers around the teenager Amy (Amber Marshall) who inherited her late mother's abilities to heal injured and abused horses. She lives with her older sister Lou (Michelle Morgan), who came back home from New York and her grandfather Jack (Shaun Johnston). Then there are Ty (Graham Wardle), the stable hand who is doing time at the ranch instead of in jail and the local veterinarian Scott (Nathaniel Arcand). And of course not to forget Tim Fleming (Chris Potter) the girl's estranged father, who comes back to Hudson after years of absence when he hears about the death of his ex-wife. Tim starts working as a foreman on a ranch nearby.
Heartland is based on a series of meanwhile 21 books by the same name, by British author Lauren Brooke.
Heartland's theme is Dreamer by indie singer Jenn Grant.
