Amanda Carpenter is on her way to a new life. The former crook had hired a thug to drive away her former partner and lover Frank (Chris Potter). When the thug went too far and cut off two of Franks fingers she fleeced him of his wages, but the thug follows her into the prairie and shoots her. After Newt Call finds the disabled woman he brings her to Providence. Quickly she recovers and settles in. She also succeeds in overbidding Curtis Wells in the auction of the Lonesome Dove Hotel and her dreams of a normal life seems to come true. But at the house-warming-party Frank appears all of sudden and the events go from bad to worse as Amanda is accused of shooting the thug who is shot while behind bars.
