Sometime in the near future: Due to the climate change more and more strong storm plague earth. By order of the US government, represented by George Katzenberg (Tom Seizemore), a team of highly respectable scientists under the guidance of Dan Abrams (Chris Potter) attempts the seemingly impossible - control the weather. The theoretical attempts to change course and size of storms are successful and also the first practical test of Project Stormshield succeeds. First the team is euphoric, but then the scientists realise that the weather manipulation has disastrous consequences on other places. As a result Dan Abrams refuses to change a storm, that threatens Miami and the team breaks up. Shortly after the scientists discover that their computer systems have been hacked into and somebody used their data to change the course of the storm. But the intruder made a serious error and so instead of weakening the storm, the storm turns into a fatal superstorm with course to New York. Now it's a matter of life and death if the team can be successful once more.

Superstorm - called a big budget thriller by variety.com - is a 3x50 min drama, was already aired in several countries worldwide and also was released on DVDr in 2007. Superstorm is a international coproduction of BBC, Discovery Channel, Pro 7 and M6. Notice that there is also a shorter 90 minutes version of Superstorm, which was aired on US TV only.
