1.13 Bullet Proof

Dan wants to go to a concert with his girlfriend Jeanelle. He asks Zoe to close a case of stolen camera equipment for him so he can go pick up the tickets. Zoe reluctantly agrees, but when she meets with the photographer, the women interrupt a burglary in progress. The thief shoots both women without hesitation. While Zoe is lucky enough only to suffer a flesh wound, the other woman eventually dies. To make matters worse, someone breaks into Zoe’s house, so she and the kids plan to spend the next night in Marcos’ house. Dan feels terrible guilt about Zoe’s injury and begins an investigation, even though he doesn’t get official support from Sophia. When Dan finds cruicial information, he tries to reach Zoe before she meets the investigating police detective in her house.

 

1.14 Backstabbed

To investigate the death of a contestant on a reality televison show, Zoe applies as a new contestant to replace the victim. As “Cloe” she goes undercover, living insulated with the other contestants. Suspects are not only her roommates, who are competing for a million dollar prize, but also the overzealous producer and the Network executive.

Joely Fisher’s sister Tricia can be seen as on of the contestants in this episode.

1.15 Aunti Venom

On board a cruise ship, one of the passengers dies due to a mysterious snake bite. To investigate, Zoe goes undercover as an entertainer while Dan gets a first class ticket to mingle with the passengers. Their main suspect is a crocodile hunter who lectures on board and also was the victim’s former husband. When Zoe volunteers Dan for a wildlife demonstration, he is bitten by another poisonous snake.

 

1.16 Block Party

Four couples living in a middle-class community file an insurance claim after a burglary in their houses. While Zoe and Dan investigate to find their killer they discover that not everything in the community is as idyllic as it seems to be.
